His number one and two passions are travelling and reading, two hobbies that came together when he wrote and published an account of his trip to Nepal and Tibet in 2006.

Carlos Lopes is the Consumer and Channels Group General Manager of Microsoft Asia Pacific.
Carlos has over 20 years of IT industry experience in developed and emerging markets, driving high performance teams that experienced breakthrough results.
Carlos started his career in Portugal in the manufacturing sector, moving into IT in 1990 as a sales manager for a distribution company where he was responsible for driving sales of Lotus, WordPerfect and other software products.
Carlos joined Microsoft in 1992 as a sales manager, and was responsible for driving the Microsoft business across different customer segments.
After 9 years in the Portugal subsidiary, he has moved to Microsoft HQ in Redmond and had the responsibility to develop the business strategy for the OEM division in Emerging Markets, with special focus on Top 12 WW markets (BRIC + 8 countries). He spent a year in China leading the OEM business and driving the team to great success that culminated in him receiving the Microsoft Chairman’s Award, the highest award in Microsoft for employees.
Since 2008, Carlos has been managing the Small, Mid-Market, Solutions and Partners for the Asia Pacific region, covering 12 countries. In this function, he has developed several initiatives to focus on Emerging markets such as Geo Expansion that has been recognized as key drivers for growth in the company.

SPI is an international consulting Group with offices located in Europe (Portugal, Spain and Brussels), North America (USA) and Asia (Beijing, Macao and Singapore). Sara contributes to the overall management of SPI, being responsible for managing SPI’s activities and services in China since 2004, as well as the company operations in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Previous to SPI, she worked with Accenture in the consulting area.
Sara has a Ph.D. degree in Food and Resource Economics from the University of Florida, USA. She has recently concluded courses on Innovation and Leadership at the Universities of Wharton and Harvard and completed the INSEAD Asia International Executive Programme in Singapore. Sara is also an invited member of the Access to Risk Finance Advisory Group appointed by the European Commission, DG Research and Innovation.
